BOISE, Idaho—Most Americans think a vast mountainous area in the Northwest known as Montana has no human inhabitants. That’s not the case according to new research out of Boise State University.  “People actually live up there [in Montana],” claims Jerry Brooks, professor of political science at Boise State University. “I’ve been saying it for years.” Brooks led an 18-month research expedition to find out once and for all if the commonly believed notion that no one resided in Montana was just folklore. The research consisted of grid-by-grid flyovers of the state and found that at least a few hundred people call the territory home. “There may be as many as several thousand inhabitants,” said Brooks. “We will have to explore on the ground to find the exact population.”
