Friends to definitely get here any time now

JEFFERSON PARK – Aaron Riley has waited nearly an hour for his rendezvous with his new friends, and they should definitely be getting here anytime now.

A group of very popular children told Riley to meet them at 4 p.m. today in Jefferson Park, where the children who once showed dislike for the often-ridiculed Riley are sure to show up to hang out with him within a matter of minutes.

“They probably forgot what time they said to meet,” said Riley, who figures he will wait only three more hours and then go home. “I’ve always noticed they aren’t as attentive to details as I am.”

Though Riley has regularly been mocked by the popular group of teens for his obesity, lack of athletic ability and academic success, the 13-year-old Riley is happy the other youths have seen the error of their ways and decided to befriend him.

“I forgive them because they are being so nice to me now, and it will be nice to hang out with other friends than the ones I usually do,” Riley said, adding that his mom has been getting on his nerves lately, anyway.

“Or maybe they meant Lincoln Park instead,” Riley speculated, opting not to walk the seven blocks to the other park to investigate the possibility.
