In June, reports came in that King was under legal scrutiny as federal
authorities launched an investigation into allegations that he had extensive
involvement in the subculture of human fighting and related gambling. An initial
search of his 28-acre property revealed several photos, belts and trophies that
seemed to have a connection to a human fighting operation.
Documents detailing the findings said the fights usually occurred late at night
and would often last several hours with as many as 12,000 spectators. Before
fights, the participating humans of the same sex would be weighed, according to
the filings.
While no formal charges have been filed, some of King’s sponsors have severed
ties with him. When King was named as a person of interest in June, Class Act
Formal Wear ended King’s endorsement deal, followed quickly by Murray’s Pomade.
Many human rights activists have begun protesting outside of King’s Las Vegas
home, boasting signs that denounce the training of humans for fighting and
lambasting King for his suspected involvement.
King has not commented on the allegations in public since they were made known
in June, marking his longest period of public silence in decades.
