COLUMBUS, Ohio—America’s arenas gathered Wednesday to discuss what to do
about all the ice the National Hockey League (NHL) is just leaving lying
about on their floors.
“It’s just a matter of time before people get hurt,” said St. Paul’s Xcel
Energy Center. “We all expect more respect than this. I’m not sure what
they do out there with all that ice anyway. I don’t really see anyone
coming to watch them. The least they could do is pick up the ice.”
More than 20 stadiums gathered in Columbus in a summit that is expected to
bring about major changes. Most stadiums complained over the need for
entire teams of people to come in to dismantle and clean up ice after NHL
events.
“I don’t understand why they (NHL teams) can’t clean up after themselves,”
said the United Center, in from Chicago for the conference. “There are
actual events, like sports and concerts, that have to take place after
those NHL people are done with whatever it is they do.”
While no announces have come as to what actions the arenas may take, it is
most likely they will threaten the NHL with a heat increase if the hockey
group continues leaving its ice behind.
